Dyke Nook used to be a farmhouse dating back to the 16th century on the east (sunny) side of Bassenthwaite Lake grid ref. NY234 299.  Facing south west, it commands panoramic views over the valley towards the Grisedale fells with Ullock Pike and Skiddaw rising just behind.  The house sleeps 4 and is a perfect  base for walking, touring, birdwatching, relaxing and for watching sunsets.  CTB Inspected.  Caravan site shop 1m, Keswick 5 miles.

 The spacious accommodation has been modernised whilst retaining its character .  All main rooms overlook the valley.  There are two large terraces, garden table and chairs are provided and there is plenty of parking space.  The house is totally NON SMOKING.

 Since 2001, ospreys have successfully nested and bred on Bassenthwaite Lake  -  the manned viewpoints are 1 mile down the road towards Keswick -. see www.ospreywatch.co.uk

The accommodation comprises:   

OAK DINING KITCHEN  -  ceramic hob, built in single oven; microwave; refrigerator; dishwasher, , Rayburn, (but not in Summer—too hot).

LIVING ROOM   -  3 piece suite, rocking chair, wood burning stove, colour tv, DVD, video and hifi. Tourist information, books and games

UTILITY  -  washing machine and (new, 3 drawer) freezer.

MAIN BEDROOM  (double); SECOND BEDROOM (twin)

BATHROOM  -  with bath, wc, basin and airing cupboard.

STUDY  -  hopefully not required! 

Prices range up to £490 high season.  A deposit of £120 per week is required, the balance to be paid four weeks before the holiday..  There is a £40 discount for 2 people.  

The price includes electricity, hot water, bedlinen, tea towels and central heating.  Towels are available for hire at £3 per person.  Duvet covers will be provided  unless sheets and blankets are requested.   

 Arrival is from 2.30 pm onwards on Saturday   Departure is by 10.30 am on Saturday

There is a private water supply from a bore hole, officially tested -  better than Evian and it is free!! 

Dogs are welcome at a charge of £25 per dog, but we do ask that you bring their own bed, they are not let on the furniture, are not left unattended and do not foul the garden. The pet’s owner must accept  responsibility for any damage incurred. 

Keswick is a 5 mile easy drive and Cockermouth is 7 miles away.
Wainwrights Skiddaw Horseshoe  starts 100 yds down the road
and there are 2 golf courses within 6 miles.  
The Ravenstone Hotel  (a small hotel 75 yds along the road) has a small bar and does good dinners - booking required.There are several pubs in the area which do good bar meals. 
A (rural) bus service runs past the gate.
